Don't Take Anything Personally!

DON’T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY.

Realize that when someone makes a comment to you (or about you), it says a lot more about them than it does about you. If someone comments on your character, body, or traits, it’s their projection which is framed with all kinds of their own beliefs and stories. In fact, people tend to not like things about others that they actually don’t like about themselves (Jungian shadow self stuff if you’re into psychoanalytic theory). Part of the risk of showing up and being vulnerable is dealing with the critics in the world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I want to give you permission to not take it personally. Rely on your inner worth, build self-compassion, practice self-validation, and realize you can’t please everyone. Your self-worth depends on you, not what other people think or say about you. We are not defined by our mistakes, and we sure as hell aren’t defined by others’ opinions of us.
